Its three hotels are for those seeking both adventure and creature comforts, and are now all strung together on a new Walking to Wellness tour, which spans the Amazon, Machu Picchu and Cusco for 16 days of adrenalin-pumping activities, healthy local food and spa time.\n\n<strong>At Inkaterra<\/strong>\n\nAt Inkaterra Reserva Amaz\u00f3nica, excursions are twice daily. The most hardcore are in the morning (partly due to the 5am wake-up call), taking on knee- knocking canopy walkways, cayman-ridden rivers in a kayak and jungle hikes.\n\n<strong>Next it’s on to the Andes<\/strong>\n\nNext it’s on to the Andes and Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel for treks around the everything-it’s-hyped-up-to-be Lost City of Machu Picchu. After scaling the steps of the 15th-century Inca citadel, it’s back to Pueblo for daydreaming in the Andean sauna, a candle-lit eucalyptus hut. There are also hot-stone massages with gems and coca-leaf oil (the same leaves that make the class A drug, so it gets the blood flowing).\n\n<strong>The last stop is Cusco<\/strong>\n\nThe last stop is Cusco. The UNESCO World Heritage city is 3,400 metres above sea level and Inkaterra La Casona’s micro-spa is one of the few in the world where therapists ask if you want extra oxygen with your massage. Almost two thirds (62%) were pleased with their work-life balance.\n\n<strong>The Qualtrics Pulse<\/strong>\n\nThe Qualtrics Pulse survey also found that two thirds (66%) of respondents were happy with their commute.\n\nEarnings, however, stood out as an area where many workers felt unsatisfied. Just 52% claimed to be happy with their pay.\n\n<strong>Travel industry<\/strong>\n\nSheila Kearney, travel industry director at Qualtrics, says: \u2018Our research shows that workers in the hotel, spa and leisure sectors are largely satisfied in their jobs, but not necessarily for the reasons we might expect. While pay and benefits achieve low scores among workers, our Driver iQ analysis shows these are not the factors with the greatest impact on employee satisfaction. Weinswig believes wellness is a trend that can only grow; people are increasingly participating in fitness classes and activities that improve wellbeing; frequenting spas and using spa products, eating organic and natural foods, taking health supplements and following special diets.\n\nMillennials, she states, are driving its growth. Born between 1980 and 1999, they\u2019ve grown up in a time of rapid change, so their priorities are different from previous generations. According to the Harris Group, 72% of millennials would rather purchase experiences than material goods. Wellness is a daily pursuit they\u2019re willing to spend on.\n\nFor spas wishing to harness this trend, diversification is key. Weinswig highlights changes made at Saks Fifth Avenue New York City flagship store \u2013 a first-of-its-kind retail space dedicated to health, beauty, wellness \u2013 as an example. Called the Wellery, it combines traditional shops with unique in-store experiences; customers can purchase beauty products or luxury workout gear, take fitness classes, get spa treatments such as manicures, facials and makeovers.
